Privacy policy
Last updated: [date of launch]
The short version
Your prayer, zikr and Quran records stay on your iPhone and in your own private iCloud. We can’t read them. We don’t show ads, we don’t track you across apps, and you don’t need an account.
Who we are
Junna is made by GMBR Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number [number]), registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. We are the controller of the limited personal data described below. Contact us about privacy at privacy@getjunna.com.
What stays on your device
- Your worship records (prayers marked, zikr counts, Quran pages, streaks and your plan) are stored on your iPhone and synced only to your private iCloud database. Apple holds that database for you; we have no access to it.
- The apps you lock. You choose them in Apple’s own picker. Apple gives Junna anonymous tokens only, so we never learn which apps or websites you chose.
- Your location, if you allow it, is used on your iPhone to calculate prayer times and is not sent to us. [confirm with Emre how location is used]
- Reminders are scheduled as local notifications on your device.
Because records of worship can reveal religious belief, which data protection law treats as special-category data, we designed Junna so that this data never reaches us.
What we do process
- Anonymous usage statistics through TelemetryDeck, such as “onboarding completed” or “trial started”. They contain no name, email or advertising identifier, and never which acts of worship you did. We use them to improve the app (legitimate interests).
- Subscription status through RevenueCat, which receives your purchase information from Apple (product, dates, country, renewal status) linked to a random app user ID. We use it to give you access to what you paid for (contract).
- Crash reports that Apple shares with developers if you’ve agreed to that in your iPhone settings.
- Emails you send us. If you contact support we keep your email address and message to answer you, and delete them when they’re no longer needed.
Apple processes all payments. We never see your card details.
What we never do
- No advertising, and no advertising or attribution SDKs.
- No selling or sharing of your data.
- No tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.
Service providers and transfers
TelemetryDeck (EU) and RevenueCat (USA) process data for us under data processing agreements. Transfers outside the UK and EU are protected by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Apple’s own processing is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.
How long we keep data
Subscription records are kept while you subscribe and afterwards as long as tax and accounting law requires. Anonymous statistics are kept in aggregate. Support emails are deleted once your question is resolved, normally within 12 months.
Your choices and rights
In the app, Settings → Help and privacy → Delete all my data erases your records from your iPhone and your iCloud. You can also ask us to access, correct, delete or restrict the data we hold, or object to its use, by emailing us. If you’re unhappy with our answer you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) or your local authority, including the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK).
Children
Junna is not directed at children under 13 and we don’t knowingly collect personal data from them.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update this page and the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
